Healthcare Author and Speaker
An author, teacher, and caregiver dedicated to empowering others through knowledge, humor, and curiosity. My journey has been shaped by my experiences as an RN, a high school Health Sciences teacher, and a caregiver to my husband. I believe in providing the tools and support that caregivers need to navigate their challenging roles with confidence and grace.
My favorite color is taupe. It may seem unconventional, but taupe represents dependability, classic style, and a down-to-earth nature. When you mix in my other favorite colors, chartreuse and periwinkle, you'll find a blend of enthusiasm, positivity, and a love for challenges, friendship, and fond memories.
I adore teaching others so they can be prepared, avoid pitfalls, and succeed. Whether it's providing insider information on a specific topic or encouraging a new mindset, edifying others in a way that truly helps is my greatest joy.
These are key ingredients to learning and living. Humor keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously and is essential to good health and teaching. Curiosity drives us to explore and understand the world around us.
One of my hobbies is crafting Iris Paper Folded greeting cards. I've taught nearly 100 people in my neighborhood how to make them, sharing the joy of creating something beautiful by hand.
I cherish the simple joys of being outdoors—listening to birds, watching clouds, and enjoying the openness. The back porch life is a great life!
My professional journey has been diverse and fulfilling. As an RN and a Health Sciences teacher, I have always been drawn to helping others understand their health and well-being. My experience as a caregiver for my husband, who was bedfast for two years under Hospice care, profoundly shaped my perspective. This challenging yet rewarding role inspired me to write and share my knowledge with others.
My mission is to shine a light and provide a map for caregivers navigating their journeys. I strive to lower the learning curve so that others do not have to "reinvent the wheel." Through my books, workshops, and speaking engagements, I aim to equip caregivers with practical tools and insights, ensuring they never feel alone or overwhelmed.
I believe we can control more about our health than we thought. Small, consistent changes in our daily habits can lead to significant improvements.
Caregiving should not be a trial-and-error process. My goal is to provide clear, practical guidance that helps caregivers avoid common pitfalls and succeed in their roles.
These are essential for a balanced and fulfilling life. They keep us engaged, resilient, and open to new possibilities.
